On Petrol Vehicles

Every petrol engine is designed and built to run on petrol with a specific octane rating. Basically, the engine has an octane appetite. The problem is that the engine octane appetite increases over time due to the accumulation of internal deposits. Electronic engine management systems attempt to overcome this by measuring the exhaust gas oxygen levels and altering the fuelling to suit. Although this approach can reduce the loss of performance and to some extent counter the increased CO levels, it is little more than a workaround to hide the problem and does nothing to solve it.

Carbon is the primary culprit for this increase in appetite, along with gum, varnish and dirt. When the engine has an appetite for petrol with a higher octane than is being used, the results are unpleasantly obvious - poor driveability, knock and ping and excessive emissions.

UBiee PowerPill offers a total answer with a ‘one-two punch’. Firstly, as it dissolves, the fuel octane is safely increased; depending on the grade of petrol, it increases the octane by 1 to 4 numbers. Secondly, it works rapidly to reduce the engine's octane appetite between 2 to 8 numbers. Consequently, there is a dual impact of increased octane in the fuel and a reduced octane appetite from the engine. This increases the vehicle’s engine power and reduces its running costs.

UBiee PowerPill achieves this by completely burning off the sulphur in the fuel before it can emulsify with water to form sulphuric acid. At the same time its various ingredients, such as ferrocene, combine to improve fuel combustion and make the fuel burn cleaner. This dissipates the water and stops carbon being formed when the mixture is heated and cooked in the combustion process; as mentioned above, carbon is the main cause of both engine wear and oil contamination. Any carbon not burned is expelled through the exhaust in the form of carbon monoxide. However, a small proportion will go into the crankcase so, although the oil will be significantly cleaner, oil changes must still be carried out at the recommended intervals.

On Diesel Vehicles

The many attributes of the UBiee PowerPill also apply to diesel engines. Depending on the quality of the diesel fuel, UBiee PowerPill can raise the cetane rating by up to 6 numbers, substantially improving performance. This can be beneficial in reducing the exhaust gas temperature as there will be a more complete burn of the fuel within the combustion chamber. A further potential benefit will be the extended life of turbochargers and manifold components such as lambda sensors used to measure exhaust gas oxygen levels for electronic engine management systems.

Exhaust Gas Temperature:

UBiee PowerPill raises the octane / cetane number of the fuel without compromising the original specification of the fuel. This causes the fuel to burn more quickly and more thoroughly in the combustion chamber therefore the fuel is fully burnt before passing into the exhaust manifold, reducing the exhaust gas temperature. This is highly significant in extending the life of manifold and exhaust components, such as turbochargers, EGR valves etc.

Internal Combustion Engines and Exhaust Gases:

When fossil fuels are burnt in an internal combustion engine, whether petrol or diesel, it is inevitable that emissions harmful to both animal life and the environment are produced. This issue has been addressed in recent years by the addition of a catalytic converter, which reacts the exhaust gasses with rare metals, as part of the exhaust system. This approach has a number of drawbacks: it uses up the world’s finite supply of rare and expensive metals; it does not work at all until the catalytic converter reaches working temperature, which for most vehicles means it will not work until the vehicle has been driven 20 miles or so; it is vulnerable to damage from driving over bumps and potholes and is expensive to replace. Since UBiee PowerPill reduces harmful emissions at source, the life of the catalytic converter is likely to be considerably extended.

Exhaust emissions fall into several categories: CO2 (carbon dioxide) is believed to be a major contributor to global warming. CO (carbon monoxide) reduces the ability of blood to transport oxygen around the body and in the case of high exposure, can be fatal. NOX (oxides of nitrogen) are thought to be carcinogenic and like particulates, are a bronchial irritant. Since UBiee PowerPill improves the combustion efficiency and ensures fuel is more completely burnt in internal combustion engines, all harmful emissions are correspondingly reduced, while some emission components are virtually eliminated.

Ferrocene is a metallorganic complex with the smell of camphor. This orange crystal has a melting point of 172-174¡æ, boiling point of 249¡æ. It is dissolved in organic solvents such as benzene, diethyl ether, methanol, ethyl alcohol, gasoline, diesel oil, and kerosene, but not in aqueous. It is chemically steady and poisonousless, not reacting with acid, alkali and ultraviolet. It doesn't decompose until 400¡æ. Mixed with Ferrocene, the diesel oil can be preserved for a long use.

Used as a fuel catalyst for rocket (aeroplane) propellant, it can improve combustion speed by 1-4 times, lower the temperature of exhaust pipes, and avoid infrared chase. It can be used as gasoline antiknock (in place of tetrasthyl lead) to produce leadless gasoline.

Used in fuel oils such as diesel oil, heavy oil, light oil etc, it can eliminate smoke, save energy and reduce air pollution. Adding 0.1% Ferrocene to diesel oil can cut down the consumption of oil by 10-14%, eliminate smoke by 30-70%, and improve power by more than 10% and no deposit is left at the spray.

Octane is an alkane with the chemical formula C8H18. It has many isomers.

One of the isomers, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane or isooctane, is of major importance, as it has been selected as the 100 point on the octane rating scale, with n-heptane as the zero point.

Octane ratings are ratings used to represent the anti-knock performance of petroleum-based fuels (octane is less likely to prematurely combust under pressure than heptane), given as the percentage of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane in an 2,2,4-trimethylpentane / n-heptane mixture that would have the same performance. It is an important constituent of gasoline.

Cetane number or CN is to diesel fuel what octane rating is to gasoline. It is a measure of the fuel's combustion quality.

Cetane is an alkane molecule that ignites very easily under compression, so it was assigned a cetane number of 100. All other hydrocarbons in diesel fuel are indexed to cetane as to how well they ignite under compression. The cetane number therefore measures how quickly the fuel starts to burn (auto-ignites) under diesel engine conditions. Since there are hundreds of components in diesel fuel, with each having a different cetane quality, the overall cetane number of the diesel is the average cetane quality of all the components.

A fuel with a high cetane number starts to burn shortly after it is injected into the cylinder; it has a short ignition delay period. Conversely, a fuel with a low cetane number resists auto-ignition and has a longer ignition delay period.

Diesel at the pump can be found in two CN ranges: 40-46 for regular diesel, and 45-50 for premium. Premium diesel has additives to improve CN and lubricity, detergents to clean the fuel injectors and minimize carbon deposits, water dispersants, and other additives depending on geographical and seasonal needs.

Some fuel additives used to raise the cetane number are eg. alkyl nitrates and

di-tert-butyl peroxide.
